Painting.... DONE!!

Yesterday was so fun.  We got the painting on almost ALL of the Props!!
It will be sooooo great to see this all put together.  It was very fun  we had Priests and Laurels come and help paint everything.  It was a fun way to get the Youth involved.. They are all very excited about it and can't wait to go!! As You can see by Casey's face!  :)
This has been an amazing experience actually.  We have had the whole city scattered all over the drive way and yard, and Neighbors and friends keep driving by asking what is going on!  When I tell them they are all just amazed that the church would to such great lengths to provide the youth with such an amazing night, just to help them hold up to their high standards.  When the "world" already provides a prom, why do another?  But being around these amazing group of youth and you will know why immediately.  They definitely shine.
My mom reminded me that even these little project are great missionary opportunities
.
Today, my neighbor told me it looked so fun with all "those teenagers" there, painting and working together.  She said, "you just don't see that kind of stuff anymore"  It made me very proud of Our kids and this projects.  Thanks for being so amazing!!!

The Painting has started!

Well, we started painting all the props this weekend, but unfortunately one of the few days in April that it actually rained.  It started out good, but after about an hour of very dark clouds, it started to POUR.  We hustled and got all the props from the yard to the patio, they are all safe and drying!!

We are trying again on Tues.  and then the painting  will be done!! YAY! NEW YORK!
It is getting so close,  I am getting very anxious to see it completed!!
Check back Wed. for painting pictures!

WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU LEAVE DAD HOME ALONE???

A TAXI CAB WONDER!!!

So I had to leave the master builder home alone today while I went to teach.  I swear I was only gone a few hours and I came home to a totally remodeled Taxi
I don't have the final picture yet, but it was soooooo cool.
He made all these 3 dimensional things for it.  The head lights and the grill and the turn lights are all seperate.  There is a TAXI sign for the top, and a I love NY license plate.  and the Best of all, a gold Angel Moroni Hood ornament.

He even made a Big circle sign that hangs on a stand that will say
NYC TAXI PARKING
Our city sky line also has an outline of the Manhattan Temple and he made an extra Moroni to go on top of the temple.  He's awesome!!
We got all the signs cut out, and all the stands made.  The last two days we have been working sooooo hard to get it all done. He was such a trooper.  I am so sad to see him leave tomorrow.  He has made this project so much easier and so much fun to do.  We work so well together. All I have to do it tell him my visions and he helped make the ideas come to life.  THANKS DAD!!

HELLOOOOO NEW YORK~

So Yesterday & today we started to build the Skyscrapers!!
We started with a blank slate..

Measured & Cut

SANDED With Roxy's help

It's starting to take shape.. We have about 12 of these that will go around the gym They will be painted black with Twinkle lights around the top.  They will also have "mirrored" square windows running down the front.!! COOL!

Dad worked hard on the Mechanical stuff.  He Designed the Taxi Cab

Carly LOVED trying it out.  This is going to be painted yellow and have NYC Taxi on it with Black& white checkered trim.  It will look so cute.  The kids will be able to go behind and take pictures like they are sitting in a Taxi Cab.

We will have a Painting Party with the Youth to get it all painted.  Can't wait!! It is really coming together.

And in the Begginning

How Do you Build New York City Times Square in an LDS Cultural Hall?
Follow along and you will see!

STEP 1:
Bribe a master Architect (my dad)  to come build for 2 weeks.
(all it takes is a bat of the eyes and a never ending supply of mixed nuts)

STEP 2:  Buy lots of wood at wholesale price (YAY Sharon!)

STEP 3:  All cities have a little bit of blood and soul in every step.

STEP 4:  ... just wait till you see what we have in store.

I am so excited for this project.  Dad and I have been so busy talking, planning, scheming and getting it all worked out.  I love this kind of stuff and I love doing it for people.  I was a little overwhelmed when they asked me to decorate for Our Prom.  This is a great opportunity for our Youth to go to Prom with out having to face the immoral, atrocious activities that can go on at Proms these days.  It involves 6 different stakes in our area and LOTS & LOTS of Youth to impress.  So hold on tight.  This will be a fun ride!!
